A 46-year-old Flat Rock man accused of committing sex crimes against a minor has pleaded not guilty.

According to court records, William Stevens entered his plea during a court appearance on February 25. A judge set his bond at $1 million with no 10% option. Stevens is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing on March 19.

Investigation and Arrest

Stevens was booked into the Seneca County Jail on February 3, charged with Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor, a third-degree felony. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reported that a sexual assault involving a minor was reported earlier that day at a home on Water Street in Flat Rock.

Law enforcement officials from multiple agencies executed search warrants as part of the investigation. Detectives, along with FBI agents, gathered information related to the allegations and confiscated evidence, including electronic devices.

Authorities arrested Stevens and stated that additional charges may be forthcoming.

Law Enforcement Statement

Sheriff Fredrick Stevens emphasized the importance of removing the suspect from the community.

“Based on all the facts and circumstances of this entire investigation, I truly believe that Seneca County is safer this evening because this individual is off our streets. The diligent work and collaboration between numerous federal and state law enforcement agencies was instrumental to the success of this investigation,” he said in a statement.

Further details regarding the victim’s age have not been disclosed at this time.
