Authorities in Fostoria seized drugs and firearms following a police chase on Tuesday, according to a release from the Seneca County Drug Task Force METRICH Enforcement Unit.

David Helms Jr., the driver of the vehicle, failed to stop when law enforcement attempted to pull him over, leading police on a short pursuit before coming to a stop in an alley. At that point, passenger William North fled the vehicle on foot but was later found inside a nearby home with what authorities suspect to be crack cocaine.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large amount of suspected cocaine hidden in the passenger door.

The investigation led law enforcement to a motel room in Fostoria, where they executed a search warrant and seized two firearms, including one that was reported stolen from Allen County.

Charges and Investigation

  • William North was arrested and charged with obstruction of official business, with additional charges pending for weapons under disability, possession of criminal tools, and drug trafficking.
  • David Helms Jr. was charged with failure to comply with a police officer’s order or signal.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
