Commuters on I-77 South faced heavy delays on Wednesday after a large pothole forced lane closures during rush hour.

The ramp from I-90 West to I-77 South was reduced to one lane, causing significant congestion. Drivers had to slow down as two southbound lanes remained closed for emergency repairs.

A news crew navigating the highway reported it took 25 minutes to travel from East 14th Street to the East 30th exit, highlighting the severity of the traffic bottleneck.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), repairs were made using cement, despite the rainy conditions making it less than ideal for curing. ODOT spokesperson Amanda McFarland assured that the road would not reopen until it was deemed safe for drivers.

Drivers are advised to stay updated on traffic reports Thursday morning to determine if additional delays are expected.
